Costa Rica Surf Bikinis – Tica Surf and Dkoko
How come guys get SO many options when it comes to awesome board shorts styles for surfing whereas girls surf bikini options are still really lacking? Every year now, there are more and more girls entering the world of surfing yet, the surf bikini market seems to still be lagging behind.
Luckily for us that live here in Costa Rica, there are a few women surfers who have taken matters into their own hands and they have started making and selling their very own amazing surf bikinis. Here are two great brands that are available in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Tica Surf
This store is one of favorite stores here in Santa Teresa among our local surfer girls. Tica surf was first opened in 2004 when local surfer, Veronica Quiros, decided that the surf bikinis that she had been styling and making for herself needed a broader audience. Popular from the get-go, Veronica has refined and modified her surf bikinis and today, they are the most popular bikinis of choice for Santa Teresa’s huge women’s surfing contingent. Tica Surf is 100% Costa Rican and it is something that the locals are very proud of.
I love Tica Surf bikinis because they are comfortable and secure. All of Tica Surf’s bikini’s cross in the back and let women surfers focus on their surfing instead of having to worry about showing off their topside. All of the bottoms come with a drawstring, which allows you to tighten them as much as you want. I wear Tica Surf bikinis all the time and as long as I secure my top and bottom properly, they don’t come off. Tica Surf bikinis come in a huge variety of colors and patterns. Best of all, Veronica’s bikinis are reversible so you get two for the price of one. Tica Surf bikinis cost $60 and they are well worth the investment.
Dkoko Surf Bikinis
Dkoko Surf Bikinis are also a great Costa Rican swimwear brand. Based in Jaco beach, Michelle Rodriguez started designing her wonderful surf bikinis because she couldn’t find a decent bikini that stayed on while she surfed.
Personally, I find that Dkoko Surf Bikinis don’t say on as well as Tica Surf Bikinis but in contrast, they are better made than Tica Surf Bikinis and I prefer her styles and pattern choices. Like Tica Surf Bikinis, Dkoko Surf Bikinis cross in the back. The Dkoko Brand offers one added benefit as well…. she allows girls buying her bikinis to mix sizes (the tops and bottoms are sold separately) which is great because lets be honest, all girls bodies are different and it is great that her surf bikinis accommodate for this fact.
