Cascada de Florida Santa Teresa Costa Rica
Are you looking for something off the beaten path?
I recommend visiting the Cascadas de Florida. The Cascadas are naturally formed fresh water pools tucked away in the middle of the jungle. When you arrive you will hear the water flowing through the rocks and birds chirping as they skip from tree to tree. The sounds reminded me of the noise machines often found in brookstone stores that mimic sounds of nature to assist city dwellers to fall asleep. Except here you don’t have to pay the hefty price of $100 to experience the sounds of nature.
As you walk down a small and slightly steep path you will see large green trees with branches that hang merrily above you to provide you with shade from the sweltering heat. The small waterfalls along with the backdrop of the vibrantly colored trees and cool fresh water makes it feel as if you have stepped into a scene from an enchanting fairytale. Take a dip in one of the pools, or if you are like me and enjoy floating then bring a raft. If you are feeling adventurous then there is a rope you can use to jump off of the rocks into the pool.
Once you arrive you won’t want to leave so I suggest packing a picnic basket and making a day of it. Afterwards You will feel rejuvenated, at peace and relaxed. The best time to go is between 12-4pm since that is normally the hottest time of the day. It will also allow you enough time to get back to town so you are able to catch the sunset on the beach. Giving you the perfect ending to a beautiful day. The pools are located just about 35 minutes away from Blue Surf Sanctuary in Santa Teresa Costa Rica. An ATV or 4×4 is required to make the trip out there as you will be driving on dirt terrain. Please ask one of are staff members for directions as getting to this gem can be a bit tricky. This is a day trip that you will never forget.
